You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that our culture is shifting, and fast. Those who are blinded to the truth and walk in darkness celebrate the change and push it further. Yet we know not all change is for the better and this season of change certainly is not.
We are moving into a new age with new realities and new attitudes toward the changeless Gospel. The new age we are entering is a new dark age. This age is characterized by nothing more than the self. Truth, authority, and guidelines are all sacrificed on the altar of self interest and pleasure. There don’t seem to be any limits. I often wonder what ill will be legitimized next. I mean, what’s left?
Fortunately for Christ-followers, we are not left without a map. This new age is not really new. It’s reared its ugly head before. “Can one say about anything, ‘Look, this is new’? It has already existed in the ages before us. What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 1:10, 9, CSB)
On the plains of Moab, Moses prepared the people of God to enter the vile world of the Canaanites and to live there as the people of God. God prepared His people to live as light in the dark ages. This summer I will share a message series from Deuteronomy to equip us to live as light in the dark ages.
